The Bermuda Arts Centre at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Sandy's Parish, Bermuda is a great place for the artsy and artsy-wannabes to peruse.
There are 4 artists and other artists cycle every 6 weeks. Art is displayed for enjoyment and purchase and they also offer workshops. You'll find a variety here from paintings, fused glass, sculptures, jewelry, and so on. Admission is free. Whether you're in the market or not, it is always neat to see the talent of others and if you happen to find something you love (you probably will) and have money and room to take home (the bigger IF), you can take pleasure in knowing you're supporting an artist and that you have a unique souvenir from your time on Bermuda, The Rock!

ShoppingThe Clocktower Shopping mall in Sandy's Parish, Bermuda is probably one of the first or last things you will do while on Bermuda. That's because it is so conveniently located to where the cruise ships dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard. The mall is a huge, beautiful, stone building with nice landscaping and a variety of stores with in. It's a great option to cool down and to grab some last minute souvenirs! PostingHistory-ingThe Victualling Yard is the part of a naval (as in the navy, not an orange or your belly button. [navy as in the water military, not a bean or a color]) facility that handled feeding and hydrating. This involved storing, preparing, and packaging food and drink. It's an interesting courtyard with old buildings, cannons, and short palm trees. And it's near the Frog and Onion Pub. Score! You need to check that place out..
If you are looking for something to do that is close to the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda, you are probably going to hear about Snorkel Park Beach. In fact, several cruise employees mentioned to us that they would be heading over there when they were allowed to leave the ship. (that's because they run a night club 10pm-3am)
Snorkel Park Beach is a man- made beach conveniently located by the cruise ships. They offer paid activities like Snorkeling, Scuba, Jet Skis as well as beach chairs, chaise lounges, umbrellas, cabana beds and day beds for rent. If you want to pedal boat, paddle board, or kayak, or if you lost your noodle, you can rent those all at Snorkel Park Beach. There is a bar and grill there and the "Club Aqua" is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday for the over 18 crowd. Admission to the beach is $5/per person. I can see how this could be a good option for some people. $5 is cheaper than getting a taxi to another beach for sure. If you want to stay close to the ship, easily go back to eat, and have activities close by that you want to pay for, sure. This could work. For me.. I was much more interested in seeing the natural beaches and beauty of Bermuda. You know.. Like this: Conveniently located at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda is the Frog & Onion Pub. Don't miss it! The pub is built in a historic cooperage and the style inside is very English! Love it!! The name is cute. The owners (Bermuda - Onions) and the chef/manager (French - Frog) BUT! the frog part also makes reference to Bermuda tree frogs, which is convenient because referring to French as "frogs" can be derogatory apparently. If you time things right (we didn't), you may catch a free show before or after visiting the Town Hall. Monday-Thursday & Saturday at 12:30pm during May to October and Wednesday and Saturday at noon for the rest of the year, by the waterfront, you will see a replica Ducking Stool. Well, the Ducking Stool is always there, but the show is only at the aforementioned times. Anyyywhoo. Apparently back in the day if women were especially naggy or gossipers they would be taken to the Ducking Stool and dunked into the water. Other offenses qualify for this punishment as well. If you are there when the show happens, you will see a fully colonial costumed Town Crier demonstrate the way things went down. In case you don't make it, there are a lot of videos on youtube. I think her throat must be really sore after that. Would you want that job? I mean.. maybe if you had some angst you needed to let out and it was a super hot day it wouldn't be so bad... :p
The entire Town of St. George is designated a UNESCO world heritage site which means there is a lot of history to appreciate around the area. Town Hall in St. GeorgeWhen you get to Kings Square (the main square in St. George) why not step back in time and enter the Town Hall? It dates back to 1782 and you can see portraits of various Mayors of the town decorating the walls.
Fun Fact: The civic government continues to meet here! The Swizzle Inn is the most famous Pub in Bermuda and the oldest. There are 2 locations on Bermuda (South Shore & Baileys Bay) and you shouldn't miss visiting to try a refreshing Rum Swizzle, the national drink of Bermuda! MenuWe were hungry from riding around on our scooter and wanted to grab a bite and try the Rum Swizzle. The hard part is buying food when you can eat free and delicious food on the cruise ship. Still, when you are out all day, it is absolutely a must. And when you are about to drink a strong drink in hot weather, it is even more of a must. We decided to go with The Swizzle Burger which was a basic 6oz beef burger with bacon on it. We split it. The price? $16! EEP! The Rum Swizzles come in 3 sizes: $8/glass $17.50/half jug $24.75/full jug What Is a Rum Swizzle?
It's delightful and you must try it! Inside an old Machine shop in the Royal Naval Dockyard you will find 2 types of art under one roof: one edible on admirable.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Lili Bermuda Perfumery while on Bermuda.
It's a unique experience and a great "free" thing to do (unless you buy a fragrance- and you probably will, hehe) The owner gave us a tour of the perfumery where everything is bottled and packaged by hand!! It was interesting to learn a little bit about the process and it felt really special to smell each scent in the show room. Lili Bermuda fragrances have been handcrafted in Bermuda since 1928! They aim to capture the essence of the island in each bottle. It makes a great souvenir if you like a scent because you can only purchase Lili Bermuda fragrances on Bermuda or on the Lili Bermuda website! It's also a souvenir that will last for a long time, and won't clutter up your house and collect impossible-to-remove dust like a manufactured seashell knick-knack. (Just saying'..)
