What Makes Them Sweatpants?

Oxford Definitionof Sweatpants:
“Loose warm trousers with an elasticize or drawstring waist, worn when exercised in or as leisurewear”

The Dressy Sweatpants from encircled have an elastic waist and a comfortable fit with incredibly soft MicroModal (sustainable, plant-based fabric from beech trees) fabric. I don’t find them especially warm and they aren’t thick like traditional “sweatpants”. However, you could easily layer some leggings underneath for added warmth without compromising style or comfort one bit!

What Makes Them Dressy?

Flattering front pleats and ruching at the ankles make these sweatpants you can wear to work. The tapered leg of the Dressy Sweatpant leading into that ruching gives it a polished look for the office.

Side slit pockets as well as a hidden zippered pocket at the back make them very functional!

Are Encircled's Dressy Sweatpants Expensive?

At first glance paying$162 for a pair of pants may seem outrageous to some people and out of reach for many.

Encircled's Dressy Sweatpants Review

I had previously purchased the original Dressy Sweatpants in a size medium during a sale. I really should have purchased a small or XS (my mistake!) but the combination of them being too big and having the drop-crotch situation going on limited my personal wearability. They were delightfully soft and comfortable, but I never felt as chic in them as everyone in the photos looked.

So once I heard they did a redesign of the Dressy Sweatpants I decided to give them a try again and ordered an XS in black.
(Note, this was sizing down from the recommended sizing chart which recommended a size Small)

I finally feel like I understand why everyone loves these pants! The fit is SO much better and even though I sized down to an XS, I actually wish there was an XXS option because I would like the leg fit to be a tad slimmer and the ruching at the ankles to fit a little more snug.

That being said, the current fit gives you some options for layering with leggings to make them a little warmer. If they are too snug on their own, the look may lean toward bulky when layering.

These pants along with basically all of the encircled clothing I own seems to take forever to dry. It's recommended to not put their clothes in the dryer, but to lay flat to dry. So while I do think encircled clothing is great for traveling because it is incredibly comfortable and the pieces can easily be dressed up or down, just be mindful when you need to wash that they are not quick drying like other technical synthetic fabrics you see in "travel clothes".

I am considering having my original size Medium blue Dressy Sweatpants tailored for a better fit for me and if encircled came out with an XXS edition of the Redesigned Dressy Sweatpants, I would consider picking them up in that gorgeous Dark Olive!
